The GBA games are stored on the M3 Real card and are loaded onto the GBA expansion to play them, loading takes about 3 seconds, if you use cheats it can vary from seconds depending how big the cheat file is. You can use trimmed roms, however as shown in my screenshot I don't usually bother.
